Linton & Kay Gallery
FEATURED EXHIBITION
I Canoe, Can You Too
by Kate Debbo
-
Based in the South-West of Western Australia and painting from the heart of everyday life, Kate Debbo creates vibrant, large-scale oil works that drift between abstraction and representation.
Inspired by daily walks through forest and shore, the vivid colours of a friend’s lipstick or the memory of a carousel horse, her canvases invite the viewer into a world where playful form and emotional reverie meet.
Her paintings explore themes of home, family, nature and freedom, often featuring horses as symbolic companions, and landscapes that feel both familiar and dream-like. Kate’s practice is built on intuition and delight in paint: each piece emerges as a layered record of memory, imagination and the magic in the
ordinary. -
“I continue to love the idea of living inside my paintings where fantasy rules, horizons are boundless and everyone is united by magic.
These are paintings about Love, family, friends and connections and are always inspired by beautiful places and events that are painted by memory and imagination. The horses represent energetic beings that serve as familiar and recognisable points in a new place.
I hope these works will inspire you to keep pushing away from the shore and remind you to play with child-like abandon.” – Kate Debbo
